We are a very busy auction house and due to our continued expansion we are seeking two new members of our team. We are looking for a professional front of house receptionist and also a porter / driver to join us at our Stowmarket offices.

 

Both positions require excellent customer service skills and a professional manner and ideally experience in dealing with a wide range of people. For the porter / driver position we require someone with a full clean driving licence (for insurance purposes).

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: DRIVER/PORTER


Responsible to:
SALEROOM MANAGER

Main Purpose: Assisting with client collections/house clearances, dealing with post


Main Duties & Responsibilities

The following duties are not shown in order of priority or frequency, nor is the list comprehensive, but rather an indication of the type and level of duties expected of the post.

1. To collect auction items from clients in our van, ensuring at all times an excellent level of customer service

2. Assist with the moving and storage of items as they come into our premises

3. Taking full control of our in-house postage requirements, ensuring that items are packed appropriately and shipped in a timely manner

4. Work with the Saleroom Manager to help present the saleroom to a high standard. This includes assisting with the set up the saleroom for viewing/auction days

5. Be responsible for own health and safety at work and comply with the organisation’s health and safety policy at all times.

6. Any other duties as directed by the Saleroom Manager or delegated authority.

 

Person Specification

QUALIFICATIONS

Full clean driving licence, able to be added to company vehicle insurance
Good standard of general education
GCSE English/Maths

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Good customer service skills
Accustomed to a physically demanding role

TRAINING
Willingness to undergo any training or development as or when appropriate.

PERSONAL QUALITIES An organised, methodical and flexible approach to work
Self motivated and able to work on own initiative
Ability to work as part of a team
A positive attitude to work
Flexibility and ability to deal with a multi-task role

Salary and Conditions of Service


1. Salary for this post is to £8.72 per hour.

2. Hours: full time (37.5 hours per week)

3. Holidays – 20 days per annum full time, plus company Christmas closure which will be in addition to this.

4. Appointment to this post is subject to a 3-month probationary period.

Job Title: RECEPTIONIST



Responsible to: OFFICE MANAGER
 
Main Purpose:                                             
Acting as the front of house contact for all clients visiting or telephoning our
auction house

Main Duties & Responsibilities

The following duties are not shown in order of priority or frequency, nor is the
list comprehensive, but rather an indication of the type and level of duties
expected of the post.
 

1.     To act as the first point of contact on the telephone and fielding calls/accurately
taking messages as required, also greeting clients as they arrive on the premises

2. To report to the Office Manager and assist with any general duties which need
completing including

·Providing excellent customer service at all times, whether over the phone or in person

·Assisting with filing, responding to Enquiries emails as required, processing customer payments


3.Be responsible for own health and safety at work and comply with the organisation’s
health and safety policy at all times.

4.Any other duties as directed by the Office Manager or delegated authority.

QUALIFICATIONS
Good standard of general education

GCSE English/Maths


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Good IT skills including word and outlook.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Good interpersonal skills.
Used to working in a busy and demanding office.
