NEWS: Decorative Art & Design Auction Set To Dazzle

Bishop & Miller’s Decorative Art & Design Auction is taking place on Saturday 21stSeptember 2019 from 10am at its Stowmarket Salerooms. As always, this much anticipated specialist sale promised to dazzle bidders with exquisite examples of 20thcentury art and furniture, as well as a number of glass, silver and porcelain pieces. Some of the Auctioneer’s top lots include: 

Lot 204- A stunning Art Deco period Lalique Ibis pattern clear and frosted glass vase, moulded with a frieze of Ibis among reeds. This interesting piece has an estimate of £2,500- £3,500.

Lot 208 – An interesting piece of art attributed to Ben Nicholson (1894 - 1982) is for sale. An abstract study in zinc white, vermilion, yellow black and grey, signed indistinctly to the reverse. The provenance of this painting is that it appeared in the exhibition "The Arts in Art" at the Swindon Museum & Art Gallery between 6 May and 12 September 2015. This lot has an estimated value of £1,000-£1,500.

Lot 302 – A signed screenprint by John Piper (1903-1992), called the “Two Suffolk Towers” numbered 32/70, dated 1972, housed in a hessian mount and glazed frame is estimated at £1,000-£1,500. Piper has a strong following and his works of art are a favourite in our saleroom.

Lot 91 – A Cartier sterling silver trophy cup, with three acanthus leaf and scroll cast handles, is up for sale with an estimate of £1,000-£1,500.
