NEWS: Auctioneer's Sales' Highlights


Recently Bishop & Miller held two specialist Sales including: Toys, Advertising & Posters Auction on Friday 17th May 2019 and its Music & Memorabilia Auction on Saturday 18th May 2019.

Toys, Advertising & Posters Auction 

-An impressive collection of match box cars £4,500 (various lots in the auction) sold to a few collectors
- Enamel advertising sign (Lot 606):  "All dogs love Spratt's bonio (reg'd) the tasty bone shaped biscuit!" with depiction of a spaniel and a St Bernard. The sign has been in the same family since new due to the family business as Corn Merchants in the 20th Century. This sign sold for £2700  - Enamel sign (Lot 610) -  "Spratt's dog foods with fresh water, the sure way of 'building up' a dog... Again, this sign has been in the same family since new due to the family business as Corn Merchants (as above). This sign fetched £1900. 
Lot 603 - A rare Spratt's advertising enamel sign. Spratt's 'puts pussy  into fine form!' Spratt's Cat Foot. For Cat & Kittens. It's sold in packets, numbered to the bottom right 343.  The sign was part of the collection from the Corn Merchant's family and it sold for £1700.
-Lot 302 - Yellow Weetabix Dinky Toys Guy Van 514. "More than a Breakfast Food"Sold for £300 - Lot 322 - Corgi Toys Rocket Age Models gift set no.6, comprising of Bristol-Ferranti "bloodhound" guided missile with launching ramp and loading trolley, R.A.F. Land Rover, English Electric "Thunderbird" guided missile on trolley, radar unit, R.A.F. staff car, Decca airfield radar van, housed in original box with information pamphlet which sold for £550. 


Music & Memorabilia Highlights
- The Human Beast - Volume One LP (Decca SKL 5053) Stereo (Lot 400) sold for an impressive £1,000.- The Autographed Beatles and Roy Orbison tour programme from 1963 (lot 516), was also signed by Gerry Marsden of Gerry and the Pacemakers. The signatures were collected by the vendor at the Brighton Hippodrome show, 2nd June 1963. This special piece of Beatles memorabilia fetched £3,600. -The Ruts - The Crack. Original Artwork used on the back cover of the 1979 Virgin release (V 2132) Lot 537.  Written on a reversed stretched canvas approx 64cm square. Features the incorrectly listed "Back Bitter" which was corrected to "Back Biter" on the released sleeve. This collectible item fetched £1,800.
