Royalty Pardon interest, Hertford Summer assizes 1826 document concerning the sentencing of various felons � Whereas the Following persons were at the Goal Delivery holder at the Town of Hertford in the County of Hertford on Wednesday the 5th day of July last, tried and convicted of the crimes hereafter mentioned and had judgement of Death recorded against them for the same � George Bakerfield of burglary in the dwelling house of John Austin and stealing his goods value �2.1.9. Richard Challis alias Collinson and Joseph Chappell alias Strange of burglary in the dwelling house of Phoebe Driver and stealing goods and monies value �13.7.0. Thomas Draper and Joseph Flint of Stealing a sheep price 20/- of Henry Campkin and John Warboy of stealing three sheep price 30/- of Stephen Hagger We in consideration of some circumstances humbly represented unto us are graciously pleased to extend our Grace and Mercy unto them and to Grant them our pardon for their said crimes on condition of them being imprisoned and kept to hard labour in the House of Correction at Hertford, the said Richard Challis alias Collison, Joseph Chappel alias Strange, Thomas Draper and Joseph Flint for the term of two years each and the said George Bakerfield and John Warboy for the term of one year�.. each. Our Will and Pleasure therefore is that you do give the necessary directions accordingly � And for so doing this shall be your Warrant given at our Court at Windsor the 20 day of August 1826 in the seventh year of our reign.
