Adding value to our valuation days 20 Feb 2018 News
We’ve kick started the year with a host of valuation days across Suffolk and Essex and we have plenty more planned across the eastern region over the coming months.
Our free ‘antiques roadshow’ style events are an opportunity for you to get your antiques and collectables valued, with no-obligation. I attend each event and share my knowledge of an extensive range of items. For me, one of the best bits is meeting people who have these interesting items; all with their own story to tell.
So far this year we have come across some brilliant hidden treasures including a painting by artist Mary Dawson (Born 1874) at our Sudbury valuation day. The painting was picked up by the owner at a car boot sale for a couple of pounds and I estimate it could sell for £400-600 at auction. It’s a highly sought-after painting and a really exciting find. It shows the value of coming along to our events as you never know what gems you may have at home.
A brilliant find from our valuation event in Hadleigh this month was a diamond ring from the iconic designer, Cartier, which was among the eclectic range of items brought in for valuation. The size of the diamond indicated the ring to be worth between £5,000 and £7,000, and it will go to auction in the coming months. If you have something tucked away in your attic or at the bottom of a cupboard please bring it along to one of our events and I will be only too happy to chat to you.
