A treasure trove of a Sale 4 Sep 2018 News

Last weekend (Saturday 7 April) we held our Jewellery and Wristwatch Sale and amongst many treasures there were a few surprises as items went under the hammer and I’ve handpicked a few of my favourites from the Sale.

Proving that small can be mighty it was a pleasure to sell a pair of gentleman’s buttons from George III era which had a seated dog pictured on them. These buttons were a little over 3cm wide and sold for £1,200. These were sold to a specialist collector.  Another wonderful find that came in to us buried in a bundle of so-called costume jewellery was a stunning Victorian 18 carat gold emerald and diamond “clover” ring (Birmingham 1866) which sold for £2,400 – a handsome price and a nice windfall for the seller.

We sold a fine example of a Faberge rock crystal, set with a ruby, gold and silver cane handle and a ball top with flowers carved centred by rubies above the gold collar and red enamel base. Highly collectable and sought-after, this stunning item fetched £3,800. Faberge is a true iconic name for quality and beauty with the workmanship always demanding strong prices.

Finally, one of my favourites of the Sale which I left until the last lot of the day was the Heuer Camaro gentlemans’ wristwatch. While many vintage Heuer models are becoming more well-known by collectors, prices are increasing,  one of the most stylish models from the late 1960s in my opinion is the Heuer Camaro. This style was named after the legendary Chevrolet Camaro car that was launched in 1966. Our Heuer Camaro gentlemans’ wristwatch sold to a collector for £2,880 and I am sure will be enjoyed for many years to come.

If you think you may have some items that you would like to sell at auction then please do come along to one of our many valuation days across the region, or give the office a call to arrange a home visit for a no-obligation estimated valuation. We are always keen to hear from people and with more specialist Sales occurring throughout our calendar, whether it’s a classic collectable Rolex watch or a rare vintage LP, we would love to check it out!
